Growing peanuts with Vegalab

Peanuts are unusual: the pod develops underground, in the same soil layer where the pests are. Peanut root-knot nematode and ring nematode attack roots, pegs and pods directly, and lesion nematodes add to the pressure in sandy ground. Above the soil line, early and late leaf spot, the canopy blight complex, white mold and rust take the canopy through pod fill, with armyworm and cutworm and lesser cornstalk and stem borers feeding alongside.

Vegalab's Nematode Control is applied to the root and pegging zone against root-knot and ring nematodes, Spore Control covers the leaf spot, white mold and rust complex, and Larva Control handles the caterpillar and borer pressure. Calcium Boost matters more on peanuts than on most crops — pod fill is directly dependent on calcium availability in the pegging zone, and unfilled pods are the most expensive thing a peanut crop can do.
