Spider Mite Control in Grapes

Mite pressure builds in hot, dusty vineyards, especially on water-stressed vines and near dusty rows. Feeding bronzes leaves and cuts the photosynthesis that ripens fruit, so heavy late-season populations can hurt sugar and quality.

Common crops affected

Why it matters

By draining cells they cut photosynthesis and yield, and infestations flare fast in hot, dry conditions and after broad-spectrum sprays kill predators. Their webbing protects them, so early control matters.

When to act

Scout from warm, dry mid-season; manage dust and vine stress alongside treatment.

What to look for

  • Stippling and bronzing of leaves, worst on stressed vines
  • Webbing on undersides under pressure
  • Early leaf drop reducing ripening capacity
  • Dust-line hotspots along rows

How to manage it

  1. Reduce dust and heat stress where practical; protect predatory mites.
  2. Remove and destroy heavily webbed leaves.
  3. Spray Spider Mite Control on both leaf surfaces at 1:500; repeat every 3–5 days.
  4. Avoid peak-sun applications to prevent oil phytotoxicity.

Frequently asked questions

Does dust control help?

Yes — reducing row dust and vine water stress slows mite build-up and supports control.
