Spider Mite Control in Strawberries

Spider mites are tiny sap-feeders that stipple and bronze leaves, multiply explosively in heat, and resist conventional miticides. This page covers spider mites in strawberry.

Common crops affected

Why it matters

By draining cells they cut photosynthesis and yield, and infestations flare fast in hot, dry conditions and after broad-spectrum sprays kill predators. Their webbing protects them, so early control matters.

When it appears

Hot, dry weather; flares mid-season and after dusty or predator-disrupting conditions.

How to identify it

  • Fine pale stippling on the upper leaf surface
  • Yellowing, bronzing, then leaf drop
  • Fine webbing on leaf undersides in heavy infestations

How to manage it

  1. Reduce dust and heat stress where practical; protect predatory mites.
  2. Remove and destroy heavily webbed leaves.
  3. Spray Spider Mite Control on both leaf surfaces at 1:500; repeat every 3–5 days.
  4. Avoid peak-sun applications to prevent oil phytotoxicity.
