Science and claims charter
In brief
Every statement Vegalab makes about a Beauty Science product is a registered claim with named evidence behind it. We describe how skin and hair look and feel, what a formula contains and how it is packed, within what the evidence shows.
What we will say
How skin and hair look and feel. A brighter-looking complexion, skin that feels smoother, a scalp that feels comfortable. This is the language of a cosmetic.
What is in the formula. The full ingredient declaration, the declared actives and what each formula is free from, read from that formula's own declaration.
How it is packed and made. The format, the closure, how it is dispensed, how each lot is traced, and the manufacturing standard it is made to.
What a study measured. When a finished-product study exists, its result, worded to the endpoint measured, with the sample size, duration, laboratory, sponsor and limitations beside it.
Regulation and substantiation
Vegalab follows the rules and regulations of the authorities that govern cosmetics in every market it serves. Every claim is substantiated before it is published.
The claim register
Every claim has a register entry. The entry records:
- the exact wording, character for character, and the approved shorter forms;
- the claim type and the evidence level, set from the weakest source linked to it;
- the evidence records behind it;
- the markets and surfaces it is cleared for;
- the review date;
- a revalidation date, on which it stops rendering until it is reviewed again.
Any sentence with a number, a comparison or a statement of performance carries its claim ID in the page source. A sentence with no approved entry does not publish. The index of registered claims by formula is the evidence hub.
How evidence is graded
Evidence is graded A to D, set out on evidence levels. Finished-product claims rest on finished-product evidence. Ingredient pages carry the line: "The studies below describe the ingredient itself." The methods behind each level are on how we test.
Studies and sponsors
Peer-reviewed research on the ingredients Vegalab uses is summarized on published research, each entry linked to its public source. Every study page names the sponsor. Where Vegalab paid for a study, the page says so. Every study page states its limitations. Consumer perception results carry the number of participants, the duration, the question as asked, and the statement that they are self-assessed.
Professional use
We make cosmetic products and describe them. Where a professional asks how a product fits a procedure, the answer is the same on every page: the protocol is the treating professional's clinical decision. What a clinic can say about the products it uses is covered in claims your clinic can make.
Corrections
When a claim is found to be wrong, or its evidence lapses, it stops rendering at once. The page is corrected, and a dated correction note records what changed. The register keeps the withdrawn wording and the reason, so it is not reintroduced. Review responsibilities and schedules are set out in the editorial and review policy.
The companion commitments on how products are made and released are in the quality charter. Where products stand with regulators in each market is on regulatory status. Both charters sit on the science hub.
Frequently asked questions
Why do some product pages say less than other brands do?
Because every statement on a Vegalab page has to name its evidence. A statement appears once its evidence exists.
What happens when a claim turns out to be wrong?
It stops rendering, the page is corrected, and a correction note records what changed and when. The register keeps the old wording and the reason it was withdrawn.
