Editorial and review policy
In brief
Every Beauty Science page is written to a published claims standard, checked against a claim register and revalidated on a fixed cycle. Errors are corrected openly, and any study Vegalab paid for says so.
What this policy covers
This policy applies to every page under Beauty Science: product pages, knowledge and ingredient pages, technology pages, treatment and guide pages, professional protocols and training. It also applies to product cartons, the professional documents and email sent to customers.
How a page is written
Pages are written for a competent reader. They state what is known and stop there.
- Appearance and feel. A cosmetic changes how skin looks and feels, and every page describes Vegalab products in those terms.
- Literature is labeled as literature. Where a page cites research on an ingredient or a technology, it says so directly: the studies describe the ingredient or technology itself.
- Facts per formula. Free-from statements, concentrations and ingredient callouts are taken from each product's own ingredient declaration. Nothing is shared across a range unless it is true of every product in it.
- No competitor is named or described.
- The professional owns the procedure. Where a page touches on a treatment, the protocol is the treating professional's clinical decision. Pages do not publish device settings.

Evidence levels
Every number, comparison and performance statement is registered under a claim ID and graded on four levels.

A lower level never supports a claim that needs a higher one. The full scale is on Evidence levels, and the records are in the evidence hub.
The claim register
A claim publishes only once it has an approved entry in the register. Each entry holds the exact wording, the evidence level, the evidence records behind it, the pages where it may appear, and the date by which it must be revalidated. A claim with no approved entry, or with a revalidation date in the past, stops the page from publishing.
Findings awaiting evidence stay in the register and reach a page once the evidence exists.
Review
Before a page publishes, the role with the right expertise for its subject checks it: formulation for formulation and technology pages, medical and dermatology review for knowledge, treatment and protocol pages, and safety assessment for safety pages. Pages about a product or study are reviewed only by team members with no financial interest in it.
Revalidation
Every page and every claim carries a revalidation date and is revalidated on a fixed cycle, and sooner when a formula, pack, supplier or rule changes.
When a claim expires, it comes off the page until it is revalidated.
Corrections
When a page is wrong, it is corrected, and the change is recorded at the foot of the page with the date and a one-line description. Corrections that change the meaning of a safety statement or a product fact are also sent to professional accounts.

Sponsorship and disclosure
Vegalab-funded studies. Where Vegalab paid for a study, in whole or in part, the study page says so, alongside the investigator, the institution and the study's limitations. The same disclosure is given for the studies summarized in published research on our ingredients.
Published literature. Studies by other groups are cited with authors, year and journal. Where their funding is relevant, the page states it as the authors declared it.
Partners. Where a page describes work done with an outside research group, the relationship is stated. See Research partnerships.
Outside specialists. Where an outside specialist contributes to a review, any payment or relationship with Vegalab is recorded with that review.
How testing is chosen
Finished-product tests are chosen to match the claim they support, and each report names its laboratory, its method and the lot tested. How laboratories are selected is on How we test.
