For licensed skincare professionals
Eye and neck firmness protocol
45 minutes. Weekly, six sessions.
For the look of firmness and the appearance of fine surface lines around the eye, along the neck and across the décolletage. The skin here is the thinnest and most reactive on the body, and this protocol is built around that rather than around potency.
Who this is for
The look of crepiness or fine surface lines at the outer eye and along the neck. Softening definition at the jaw. A maintained face above an unmaintained neck. Clients whose concealer creases by mid-morning.
Separate three presentations before you plan the session, because they look identical to the client and respond completely differently. Fluid is soft, worse on waking, better by mid-day, and moves under a light finger; it responds to cooling and to the light manual sequence in step 5. The look of laxity is a fine, dry crepe that shows most when the skin is stretched flat, and it responds to the layering in steps 2 to 4 and to consistent home use. Shadow is neither: it is bone structure, a tear-trough hollow or pigment, it is unchanged by everything on this page, and it is the one you have to name out loud in the consultation. Most clients arrive with all three in different proportions.
Who this is not for
- Any eye infection, or redness with discharge, crusting, pain or a lesion on the lid margin.
- New, sudden or one-sided swelling of the lid or under-eye, or swelling with pain or any change in vision. Refer the same day.
- Recent eye surgery or any ophthalmic procedure, until the treating practitioner clears it.
- A recent injectable or surgical procedure in the area. That interval belongs to the practitioner who performed it.
- Broken skin, or any blistering, weeping or crusted lesion in the treatment area.
- Lash extensions or a lash lift applied within the last 48 hours. Serums and creams reach the adhesive whatever you intend, and the client will blame the facial.
- Sunburn or windburn within 72 hours, or a resurfacing treatment in the area within 7 days.
- Known sensitivity to any ingredient used. Check the full INCI, not the marketing copy.
Before you begin
Contact lenses out. Eye makeup off completely, with a cleanser the client already tolerates: this is not the session to introduce a new cleansing product to an eye area.
Photograph at session one in one light source, eyes open and relaxed, then eyes closed, then chin level for the neck. Fine lines photograph inconsistently, so the setup has to be fixed.
The protocol
| Step | Product | Amount | Dwell | Technique |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Cryo Cooling Gel | Thin layer | 3 min, then remove residue with damp cotton | Under-eye, along the jaw and down the lateral neck. Where the presentation is fluid, this comes first. Where it is not, skip the step and start at 2. Keep it outside the orbital rim; never on the lid. |
| 2 | Hyaluronic Skin Repair NanoSerum, sealed vial | 1.5 ml, drawn through the stopper | 5 min | Onto skin still damp. If it has dried, dampen with water on cotton first. Press with flat fingers over eye contour, neck and décolletage. Do not stroke. |
| 3 | Age Repair NanoSerum, sealed vial | 1.0 ml | 5 min | Onto still-damp skin. Eye contour on the bone of the orbital rim only. Neck in upward strokes from collarbone to jaw. Décolletage outward from the sternum. |
| 4 | Age Repair NanoSerum, second layer | 0.5 ml | 3 min | Neck and décolletage only. Not a second eye layer; one is the limit here. |
| 5 | No product, manual sequence | 8 min | Detail below. | |
| 6 | Bio-Thread Eye and Neck Cream | One rice grain per eye, pea-sized for the neck | Leave on | Ring finger only at the eye, on the bone, a clear 5 mm outside the lash line. Press and lift, do not drag. Neck upward and outward, then two closing strokes down the side of the neck to the collarbone. |
The manual sequence, step 5
Pressure. At the eye, the working weight is the weight of the ring finger resting on the skin and nothing added. The skin should move with the finger and never slide under it, and it must never be stretched. On the neck the pressure can rise slightly, but not to the point where you feel muscle.
Rhythm. Slow, about one cycle per second, five to seven repetitions per movement, with a gradual release.
Direction. Eye: ring finger along the bone of the orbital rim, inner corner outward underneath, then out to the temple, then down in front of the ear. Never onto the mobile lid, never toward the lash line, never inward at the inner corner. Neck: apply upward, from collarbone to jaw, so the tissue is never dragged downward; close downward along the sides of the neck to the hollow above the collarbone. Décolletage: outward from the sternum toward the shoulder, then up into the side of the neck and down to the collarbone. Finish above the collarbone every time.
The one thing that determines whether this protocol works: placement and quantity at the eye, not the strength of what you apply. Anything placed inside the orbital rim migrates onto the lid and into the eye within hours, and a stinging, puffy lid the next morning cancels the look of firmness for days and costs you the client's confidence in the whole course. One rice grain per eye, on the bone, 5 mm clear of the lash line, pressed and not stroked. More product does not reach further; it only reaches the wrong place.
Frequency and course
Weekly, six sessions. Reassess at session three against the session-one photographs. If the presentation was mostly fluid, the change shows early. If it was mostly the look of laxity, expect nothing convincing before session four, and say so at session one.
Aftercare
- No acid, retinoid or exfoliation in the eye area or on the neck for 48 hours.
- Daily broad-spectrum sun protection on the face, neck and décolletage, from any brand. Vegalab does not sell an SPF. The neck ages visibly mostly because nobody protects it.
- No eye makeup for 12 hours where the client can manage it.
- Sleep with the head slightly raised on the night after treatment.
- If the eye area stings, waters or looks puffy the next morning, stop the eye products, note which one was introduced last, and do not repeat it until you know.
What to expect, and when
Immediately after: the under-eye looks flatter and smoother, the neck looks more even, and makeup sits better. Cooling contributes to this and cooling wears off.
By session three: clients report concealer creasing less by mid-morning. That is the marker that matters, because they volunteer it.
By session six: a more even-looking eye contour and a neck that reads closer to the face in texture and tone.
Scope: this protocol addresses the look of fine, crepey texture and of morning puffiness at the eye and neck. Wrinkles, lid laxity, hollows, bone structure and a dark-looking under-eye that comes from structure or pigment sit outside it. A hollow is a volume question and a lid is a surgical one, and telling the client that at session one is what makes the rest of your assessment worth trusting.
Home maintenance
The eye area is a daily-habit problem more than a treatment-room problem.
Morning: Cryo Cooling Gel kept in the refrigerator, 60 seconds under the eye and along the jaw, then Bio-Thread Eye and Neck Cream, one rice grain per eye and a pea for the neck. Sun protection over the neck and décolletage.
Evening: Bio-Thread Eye and Neck Cream, same amounts, same placement.
Twice weekly: one 1.5 ml application of Hyaluronic Skin Repair NanoSerum from a sealed vial on damp skin, drawn through the stopper. On two other evenings: one 1.5 ml application of Age Repair NanoSerum from a sealed vial. Each vial covers three applications. Not both on the same night, and never a doubled eye layer at home.
Show the placement once, on the client, with their own finger. Ring finger, on the bone, 5 mm off the lash line. Almost every client applies eye product too close and too much, and correcting that once is worth more than any product you sell them.
When to refer
Refer to a physician, and do not treat, if:
- There is pain, discharge, crusting, light sensitivity or any change in vision.
- Swelling is sudden, one-sided, or accompanied by heat or redness. Same day.
- An eyelid has newly drooped, or the face has become asymmetric.
- There is a lesion, growth or persistent lump on the lid margin, in the eye area or in the neck, or a lash line area that loses lashes.
- Puffiness is present most mornings and does not settle by mid-day, particularly alongside ankle swelling or a recent change in medication.
- Nothing has changed after six sessions with consistent home care and daily sun protection.
The eye area is where a cosmetic protocol reaches its limit soonest. Recognizing that limit is the professional judgment, and it is the reason a client comes back.
