For licensed skincare professionals
Mature-skin firmness protocol
60 minutes. Every 7 to 10 days, six to eight sessions.
For the appearance of firmness and definition, particularly along the jawline and neck. The manual work is the protocol; the products carry it and make it possible to work for twenty minutes without dragging.
Who this is for
Loss of definition along the jawline and under the chin. Makeup settling into folds rather than into fine lines. Clients who describe the face as tired or heavy rather than lined, which is a different complaint and a different appointment.
Assess upright, then lying down. Skin with reduced elasticity looks materially different on a flat couch. That difference is what you produce for an hour and lose by the weekend, and knowing its size stops you promising the version of the face that only exists horizontally.
Who this is not for
- Any injected aesthetic treatment in the treatment area within the last 14 days, or longer if the treating professional has said so. Massage over recent injectable work can move it.
- Active irritation, broken skin, or any open lesion in the treatment area.
- A professional resurfacing treatment within the last 7 days.
- Any lump, firm area or unexplained swelling under the skin that a physician has not assessed. Working around it is not an option; the answer is a physician first.
- A swollen or tender node in the neck or under the jaw. No massage on the neck or under the jaw at all.
- Known sensitivity to any ingredient used. Check the full INCI.
Before you begin
Photograph upright, at fixed distance and lighting, at session one. Contour change is gradual and the client will not see it without a comparison.
Ask directly about injectable treatments and about any lump or tender area. Clients rarely volunteer either, and both change what you are allowed to do in the next hour.
Warm your hands. Cold hands on the neck produce guarding, and a guarded client tenses against every stroke.
The protocol
| Step | Product | Amount | Dwell | Technique |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Comfort Cleansing Milk | 2 pumps | 60 sec | Emulsify and work over dry skin, remove with a warm damp cloth. Include the neck and the area under the jaw, which is where the session is going to live. |
| 2 | Bio-Ferment Essence Toner | Saturate 2 cotton rounds | Leave damp | Press over face, neck and décolletage. Do not wipe. |
| 3 | Age Repair NanoSerum, sealed vial | 1.5 ml, drawn through the stopper | 5 min | Press onto damp skin with flat palms. Face, neck and décolletage. Let it settle before any massage begins. |
| 4 | Sculpting NanoSerum | 4 to 5 ml | 20 min working time | The manual sequence. Open with light, slow massage strokes from the center of the face outward, then down the sides of the neck toward the collarbone. Then supported strokes along the jaw, then the cheek, then the neck. For the look of a more defined contour; appearance only. Restore slip with Aqua Infusion Mist rather than adding more product. |
| 5 | Aqua Infusion Mist | 2 to 3 passes as needed | During step 4 | Used only to restore slip mid-sequence. Mist your own hands or the working area, never into the eyes. |
| 6 | Bio-Thread Eye and Neck Cream | Rice-grain per eye, hazelnut for the neck | 2 min | Ring finger, tapped along the orbital bone and never into the lash line. On the neck, upward strokes with the free hand supporting below. |
| 7 | AquaCell Moisturizer | Pea-sized | Leave on | Press and roll over face and neck. |
The one thing that determines whether this protocol works: anchor every stroke, and never work on skin that has stopped sliding. Skin with reduced elasticity does not spring back from a drag the way younger skin does, so each stroke is anchored with the free hand and worked toward that anchor, with the tissue supported at both ends. The moment the product has absorbed and the skin starts to grab, stop and restore slip. Twenty minutes of manual work on grabbing skin stretches tissue, and it is the one way to leave this client worse off than doing nothing. Pressure is moderate and constant, speed is slow. If the client's head moves with your hand, the pressure is wrong.
Product time is roughly 10 minutes. The other 40 to 45 are the manual sequence, the assessment and the home routine conversation. This is a labor protocol and should be priced as one.
Frequency and course
Every 7 to 10 days, six to eight sessions. Closer than seven adds nothing; wider than ten and the visible effect has gone between appointments, which makes a course feel like a series of unrelated facials.
Reassess at session four against the session one photograph, upright, same lighting and distance. If the images have not moved, add time to the manual sequence before adding products.
Aftercare
- No exfoliation, acid or retinoid for 24 hours.
- Daily broad-spectrum sun protection, from any brand. Vegalab does not sell an SPF product, and the look of aging skin tracks daily sun exposure more closely than it tracks any serum.
- No facial waxing or heat treatments for 48 hours.
- Sleep on the back where possible during a course. Clients who sleep face down on one side show it. Mention it once, and do not make it a rule they cannot keep.
- Water and movement. Both show in how the face looks the next morning.
What to expect, and when
Immediately after: the face looks more defined, particularly along the jaw, and the skin looks smoother and feels refreshed. Real and visible, and largely a surface effect of the massage and of hydration in the surface layers. It settles back over 48 to 72 hours. Give the client that number before they discover it.
By session four: the client reports that the effect holds longer between sessions. That is the marker worth tracking, more than any single after-photograph.
By session eight: a more defined look along the jaw and neck in photographs taken in the same conditions as the baseline, and skin that looks smoother and better hydrated.
Scope: this protocol addresses the appearance of firmness at the surface of the skin, which is a smaller and more honest claim than the category usually makes. A client asking for a change to the shape of the face belongs in a different appointment, and saying so at session one protects the relationship rather than costing it.
Home maintenance
The in-clinic effect is largely gone by the third day. The home routine is what carries a course.
Morning: cleanse with Comfort Cleansing Milk, press in Bio-Ferment Essence Toner, Sculpting ProSerum, AquaCell Moisturizer, sun protection.
Evening: cleanse, tone, Age Repair ProSerum onto damp skin, Bio-Thread Eye and Neck Cream around the eyes and up the neck, AquaCell Moisturizer.
Twice weekly: one 1.5 ml application of Age Repair NanoSerum from a sealed vial onto damp skin, drawn through the stopper. Each vial covers three applications, so a ten-vial box is about fifteen weeks of twice-weekly use.
Home massage, conditionally. Two minutes, evening, over a slippery product. Prescribe it only if you have physically shown the client how to anchor a stroke and watched them do it. Clients left to improvise will drag, nightly, on the exact tissue you spent six sessions protecting. If you cannot teach it properly in the appointment, do not send it home.
When to refer
Refer to a physician, and do not continue the protocol, if:
- There is a lump, a firm area, or unexplained swelling under the skin.
- A node in the neck or under the jaw is swollen or tender, or has been for more than two weeks.
- Facial asymmetry has appeared or increased over weeks rather than years.
- There is pain with the movement of the jaw, or persistent facial pain.
- Any sudden weakness or drooping on one side of the face, or a change in speech or vision. That is emergency care immediately, in the same hour, not an appointment.
- Skin changes appear on the neck or décolletage that do not settle.
- Nothing has changed after eight sessions with a consistent home routine.
The value of this protocol is in what it does honestly and in what it declines to claim. A client who trusts the second thing will believe the first.
