Why timing matters more than rate for these materials
A contact material that degrades quickly has a short window in which it can affect a bee at all. That window is governed by when you spray and when bees are flying, not by concentration. Reducing the rate of a contact material lowers efficacy against the target without proportionally lowering the exposure of an insect that lands in the spray.
This reasoning applies to short-persistence contact actives. It does not transfer to systemic or long-residual products, where residues in pollen and nectar are the dominant exposure route and timing alone is not sufficient.
What exposure looks like
