Common crops affected
- Beans
Why it matters
White mold rots bean stems and pods in cool, wet, dense canopies, with sclerotia that persist for years.
When it appears
Preventively at early-to-mid bloom (the infection window) in cool, wet seasons.
How to identify it
- Water-soaked lesions on stems, pods, crowns or leaves that rot rapidly.
- Fluffy white cottony mould on infected tissue in humid conditions.
- Hard black sclerotia (like rat droppings) inside stems or on the surface.
How to manage it
- Apply Spore Control preventively at bloom with coverage into the lower canopy;
- open canopy and manage irrigation;
- rotate away from susceptible hosts.
- Monitor early, treat at the right window above, and use cultural measures (sanitation, airflow/drainage or resistance/rotation as relevant).
